Day 1: Arrival & Welcome Briefing

We welcome you on your arrival and introduce you to your expert birding guide for the stay. Take a slow day with a boat safari and a sundowner with an evening performance.
  • Settle into your jungle lodge and get introduced to your expert birding guide.
  • Boat Safari on the Rapti River: Spot aquatic species like kingfishers, storks, cormorants, and marsh harriers as you float through serene wetlands.
  • Sundowner at the River Confluence: A magical evening with panoramic views of the Rapti and Narayani rivers, a prime birdwatching location.
  • Evening Tharu Cultural Performance: Experience the local culture with traditional Tharu dance, followed by an exclusive dinner.

Day 2: Grassland & Woodland Bird Safari

Spend a day spotting birds from early morning to late evening, from East to West, sunrise to sunset.
  • Early Morning Jeep Safari (East): Explore grasslands and mixed habitats from Bhimle Army Check Post to Budhi Rapti area focusing on diverse grassland bird species.
  • Return to the lodge for lunch.
  • Afternoon Jeep Safari (West): Journey through woodland and wetland habitats to track species like hornbills, drongos, and parakeets.
  • Return to lodge and freshen up.
  • Evening Bird Walk inside Lodge Premises: Search for nocturnal species such as owls and nightjars around the lodge.

Day 3: Aquatic Wonders & Vulture Conservation

Experience close encounters with reptiles and fauna. Explore the park on jeep and by boat and visit the Gharial Breeding Center for a complete wilderness experience.
  • Extended Boat Safari: Drift through Rapti and Narayani river, some of Chitwan’s richest aquatic bird habitats towards Amaltari Ghat. Spot bird species such as ruddy shelduck, goosander, storks, kingfishers, cormorants, egrets, and marsh harriers.
  • Riverside Breakfast: Dine amidst pristine wilderness while observing bird activity along the riverbanks.
  • Visit Jatayu Vulture Restaurant in Kawasoti, Nawalparasi. A community-led conservation initiative that has been working towards saving endangered species of vultures including white-rumped vulture, slender-billed vulture, and red-headed vulture. Learn about vulture conservation and the restaurant’s success story.
  • Return to the lodge (approx time 1.5 hours/ 65 kilometers).
  • Lunch.
  • Late Afternoon Bird Walk: Guided walk inside the national park. Observe birds in the riverine forest and grassland edges. Possible sightings include woodpeckers, drongos, minivets and warblers.
  • Dinner.

Day 4: Full-Day Birding Expedition in Chitwan National Park

Spend a full day inside the National Park premises on a jeep safari including lunch served, surrounded by wilderness.
  • Early morning breakfast at the lodge.
  • Begin the jeep safari tour and cover multiple habitats such as sal forests, wetlands, and grasslands, with a goal to maximize your species checklist. Spot species such as hornbills, peafowl, raptors, parakeets, storks, and babblers.
  • For maximum sightings, your expert guides will accompany you, explaining bird behavior and habitat preferences.
  • Jungle Picnic Lunch. Enjoy a scenic outdoor meal in the heart of the park.
  • Return to the jeep safari to spot rare species such as Bengal florican, great hornbill, and grey-headed fish eagle.
  • Return to the lodge in the evening to enjoy a Kumal Cultural Performance.
  • Evening Kumal Cultural Performance: Celebrate the rich traditions of the local Kumal community.
  • Dinner.

Day 5: Farmland Bird Watching & Farewell

Enjoy the last chance to spot birds at the nearby farmland and prepare for departure.
  • Enjoy a cup of joe or tea at the lodge.
  • Then head towards Divyanagar Farmland (15 min from the lodge) to spot cultivated-area birds such as common cranes and yellow-breasted buntings.
  • Return to the lodge and wrap up your stay with a hearty breakfast, before departure.

Day 6: Farewell to the Jungle

A calm scenic morning to reflect on an unforgettable experience.
  • Breakfast Service between 7:00 – 10:00 AM.
  • Departure as per guest schedule.
